Modern Kitchen Redesign- Before and After
This project was inspirational to bring a modern design to an existing kitchen by adding a clean new state-of-the-art theme. My client wanted to keep the layout the same but add a counter height dining table with a matching slab of quartzite for her Island. New backsplash, paint, window treatments, artwork, plumbing and lighting.
Natural Colors and Natural Materials.
We choose the paint for the walls and existing cabinets first, second the slabs of quartzite was selected at a local slab warehouse. Quartzite is a natural stone with a similar look to marble but less maintenance and a popular choice for most of my clients currently.
Design With Impact.
The backsplash was a careful selection of a white/gray glazed simple 3×6 tile to be layered in a brick pattern behind the existing granite slab on the perimeter. We chose to lay the tile in a basketweave pattern under the cooktop where there is more room to make a design impact. Trim was applied around the basketweave to have a clean edge detail.
Adding The Right Light To Your Space.
New pendant lights over the island and the chandelier over the new dining room quartzite slab were great matching elements with a brushed nickel finish to match the cabinetry hardware, sink and industrial faucet. The see-through Edison light bulb is a popular trend and gives a light and simple elegance to the space.
Keeping A Consistent Color Pallete.
The window treatment roman valences are the most important element bringing the only pattern into the space & enforcing the color palette. The settle hydrangea in pale grey, blue and brown give a settle sophistication and up the level of the updated clean look of the kitchen renovation.
Our favorite contractor made a custom hood and buffet built-in server to match the existing antique ice oak ice chest. This warms up the space and ties in a natural element old world detail.
Two pieces of artwork where carefully selected and chosen in the colors of the space in a cherry blossom design and a landscape to finish the sophisticated coastal upscale kitchen in this beautiful house set in the country setting of Myrtle Beach.
