The challenge of the open floor plan in this featured project was the clear lack of walls and corners. Most homeowners will see this open floor plan and turn a blank stare with where to start a floor plan and placement of the furniture?
When we see an open floor plan, we immediately see the opportunity to place a larger seating structure, and in this case a lovely three piece circular sectional.
The colorful leaf rug adds pattern & personality to warm the otherwise cold space. Grounding the perimeter of the seating area. The curved textured sectional defines the seating area & pulls the warm greens from the rug. I have found through the years to choose a simple textured pattern when selecting the largest furniture items. You will be able to live with this simple pattern for a very long time. Color & pattern can always be changed with the rug, pillows and accessories. Keeping it classic has longevity.
We brought in a light colored, organic green for the two swivel chairs. The rounded backs are to mimic the shape of the sectional & soften the space. The Taja round coffee table and side table are contemporary in style, featuring a stainless steel framework finished in a brushed brass with a round acacia veneer top in a dark walnut stain washed with a light gray glaze. The brass picks up the same gold finish of the sectional legs.
The end result solved the lack of seating, and challenge of the open floor plan with grace and comfort in the contemporary vibe my client requested.
